Those gifts are flowers, chocolate, and jewelry, three of the most popular for your sweetheart, and that popularity is translating into a flurry of activity on this day before Valentine's Day.

So what's the perfect way to say "I Love You" on Valentine's Day? It's a question dozens of people spent the day trying to figure out as they searched for that perfect gift.

So how about something you can eat? Chocolate is a good choice. JanMar's Chocolate Emporium in Wausau says they sell the most amount of chocolate on Valentine's Day.

"It's a mixture; men, women, children buying for mom and dad, kind of a mixture," says co-owner Janice Pilgrim about the customers she sees in her store before Valentine's Day.

As for something you can smell, flowers do the trick for lots of people.

Valentine's Day is the third busiest for Wausau Floral behind Mother’s Day and Christmas, and while red roses are most popular, more people are asking for other colors as well.

"A lot of people like to mix the colors. We do a lot of mixed roses, so it gives you a chance to see the different kinds and different colors," says Denise Petrowski, a floral designer at Wausau Floral.

And finally, something you can wear. At Jim Kryshak Jewelers in Rib Mountain, customers are scooping up everything from necklaces to engagement rings, and the purchases are getting bigger every year.

"Before in the past, we'd find a $79 gift range, now it's a range of around $500, so it has been going up," says Sara Michalski, a sales associate at Jim Kryshak Jewelers.

Now if you are a procrastinator and haven't picked up your Valentine's Day gifts yet, you still have time. All three businesses say they'll still be able to accommodate even the latest shoppers.
