Many cities in our area saw higher turnout at the polls than in years past.

The City of Wausau reported a 17 percent voter turnout by 4 p.m. on Tuesday.

Of the 5,473 registered voters in Merrill, 1,332 had voted by 3 p.m.

Stevens Point polling places had a voter turnout of 12 percent just after 1:30 p.m. That's three percentage points higher than the total turnout for the entire day in 1998.
