1 killed in Waushara County crash

A 20-year old is dead following a 2 vehicle crash on State Road 22 at Czech Court in the Town of Dakota south of Wautoma.

The crash happened Thursday, September 5th.

Responding law enforcement were able to determine that a 2004 Ford Freestar Van driven by 81-year old Gene E. Krueger of Wautoma entered State Road 22 from Czech Court. A 2008 Buell motorcycle driven by 20-year old Bobby J. Birschbach of Appleton was traveling south on State Road 22 and was unable to avoid a collision with the van.

Krueger was not injured in the crash. Birschbach was pronounced dead at the scene by Waushara County Deputy Coroner Patrick Handel.

Wautoma Area Fire Department, DNR and Waushara County Highway Department staff assisted at the scene.

The crash remains under investigation by the Waushara County Sheriff’s Office with assistance from the Wisconsin State Patrol. This is the 6th traffic fatality in Waushara County during 2013.
