MADISON, Wis. (AP) -- The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources is holding more than two dozen meetings throughout the state for anglers to share their experiences about fishing for panfish.

DNR fisheries specialist Joanna Griffin says department officials want to hear from the public on their expectations for panfish fishing to help develop a statewide plan for managing populations.

She says meetings will focus on panfish management although other local fishery concerns may be covered.

The DNR has management plans for game fish like walleye, bass, musky and northern pike, and biologists and some anglers believe the same thing should be done for panfish.

The meetings will start Feb. 12 in Stevens Point and end on March 18 in Crivitz.
