Before Jay Leno, David Letterman or even Johnny Carson, there was Sid Caesar. But the star of "Your Show of Shows" and "Caesar's Hour" was only the most visible part of one of the greatest groups of comedic talent ever assembled. Among them: Carl Reiner, Mel Brooks, Woody Allen, Larry Gelbart, and a young scribe named Neil Simon.
Simon later used his experiences on staff to write "Laughter on the 23rd Floor" with characters based on some of those brilliant comedic minds. For a preview of Wausau River District Theatre's new production of "Laughter..." Sunrise 7's Sean Caldwell spoke with director and cast member Gary Anderson and cast members Michael Georgi and Harrison Benton.
"Laughter on the 23rd Floor" opens Friday night at the Wausau YWCA. Evening performances on December 6, 7, and 14th begin at 7:30 p.m. Sunday matinees on December 8th and 15th begin at 3 p.m.
Tickets are $10 in advance if you call (715) 848-8037, $11 dollars at Sweets on 3rd & the Wausau Visitors Center or $15 dollars at the door.
