MINOCQUA, Wis. (AP) -- Two young teens from Wisconsin and Minnesota are two-thirds of the U.S. dream team that captured the National Geographic World Championship in Russia.

Thirteen-year-old Asha Jain, of Minocqua, and 15-year-old Gopi Ramanathan, of Sartell, Minn., are part of Team USA that edged out Canada and India in the final round of the championship event Wednesday in St. Petersburg, Russia. Fourteen-year-old Neelam Sandhu, of Bedford, N.H., is the other member of the three-person team that won the gold.

The U.S. team won by correctly identifying the country with a flag that includes six small stars and whose gross domestic product has expanded rapidly, but not at the benefit of its citizens. Stumped? Equatorial Guinea.

The Journal Sentinel says the final round of the competition in Russia was held in a game show-type format and was moderated by "Jeopardy" host Alex Trebek.
