Business Community Shows up for Active Shooter Training

In today's society, we never know when the next mass shooting will occur.

Because of this unfortunate reality, the Wausau Area Chamber of Commerce and local law enforcement want businesses and schools to be prepared.

They held two active shooter training seminars in Wausau Wednesday.

Along with going over the history of mass shootings, business leaders learned about active killer profiles, armed intruder procedures and police priorities.

"2012 was a horrible year as active killers are concerned, we have more deaths and we have more wounded individuals than ever before," said Lt. Chad Billeb of the Marathon Co. Sheriff's Dept.

Lt. Billeb says police are constantly training, trying to stay at least one step ahead of the bad guys.

He says it's better to be prepared than to believe it couldn't happen to you.

Because of high interest, the Chamber and local police will likely team up again for another seminar.
