Scholarship Deadline Approaches for Cancer Patients and Survivors

The application period to apply for college scholarships from the American Cancer Society is now open. To be eligible applicants must have been diagnosed with cancer before the age of 21, legal residents of Wisconsin, Iowa, Minnesota, or South Dakota for at least one year, and are under 25 years old at the time of application.

The American Cancer Society Youth Scholarship Awards Program is designed to provide young cancer patients and survivors assistance pursuing higher education.

A limited number of scholarships will be awarded this year for students enrolled in a college or tech/vocational school. The awards will be paid directly to the institution. Awards will supplement the Fall 2013 semester tuition costs.

The American Cancer Society Youth Scholarship Program Volunteer Review Committee will select scholarship recipients on the basis of their commitment to academic or vocational goals, current financial need, leadership, and community service. Preference will be given to first time scholarship applicants.

For additional information or to complete an application by the March 15, 2013 deadline, go to www.cancer.org/mwyouthscholarship or contact Tiffany Carlson at 1.877.423.9123 x7581 or email at tiffany.carlson@cancer.org
