A jury from La Crosse County has reached a guilty verdict Thursday in the murder trial of Raul Ponce-Rocha.

The 23-year-old was found guilty on all four counts- first-degree intentional homicide, burglary with a dangerous weapon, and two counts of theft in the 2009 death of Breanna Schneller, 18, of Wausau.

The brother of Breanna’s fiancé found her body in the Wausau apartment the three shared May 2nd 2009. It is believed she was murdered sometime between 10:30 a.m. and 11:00 a.m.

Raul Ponce-Rocha was arrested May 6th, 2009 in connection to the murder.

During testimony, Ponce-Rocha indicated another man Sergio Juarez-Guiterrez may have killed Schneller. Juarez-Guiterrez took the stand Thursday morning as a surprise witness for the prosecution, stating he could not have committed the murder because he had left Wausau at 9:30 a.m. to do taxes that morning in Madison. His brother, Jorge testified those events were accurate.

A sentencing hear has not yet been scheduled. Ponce-Rocha faces a mandatory life sentence in prison.

According to online court records a sentencing hearing is to be scheduled in 60-days.
