Day 5 of Testimony in Wausau Murder Trial

The day began with the state resting it's case and the defense wasted no time in calling defendant Raul Ponce-Rocha to the stand.

While being questioned by the defense Ponce-Rocha told the jury he and a man named Sergio, had a conversation with Breanna Schneller inside of her apartment the morning she was murdered.

When police questioned Ponce-Rocha in the days after Schneller's murder, he never mentioned his encounter with Sergio and Breanna.

During the state's cross examination, District Attorney Ken Heimerman pointed out that fact , along with several other instances where Ponce-rocha was being less than truthful in his police interview.

This included statements about whether or not he used the dumpster behind El Tequila Salsa the day Schneller was killed.

Ponce-Rocha told police he never used the dumpster, but after seeing surveillance video of himself using the dumpster, he changed his statement and admitted to putting cardboard in the dumpster

After Ponce-Rocha left the stand, the defense called two forensic witnesses and two of the defendant's former co-workers from El Tequila Salsa.
