The father of murdered DC Everest student Breanna Schneller is keeping her legacy alive with an annual fundraiser.
They call it the Breanna's Smile Foundation and everyone at the event Saturday had the same response. They said she was a great person there was something about her smile that family and friends will treasure a lifetime.
"It's one of these things that you remember about people when you see them, their eyes or whatever the case may be. With her it was her smile," said Breanna's father, Craig Schneller.
"She was one of my classmates and every time I saw her she would have a smiling face," responded Ashley Carlson.
"You would see Breanna's face and the whole room would light up. She was there when anyone needed her," said Savannah Schneider.
Her smile that captured so many people's hearts is just one reason why hundreds of people are showing their support for Breanna at the 2nd annual Breanna's Smile concert benefit in Rothschild.
Longtime friend Sara Tome said Breanna was her first friend at DC Everest.
"She was a sweetheart right when I met her. All she wanted to do was help people out and always do what she could to make friends. everybody loved her," said Sara Tome.
Along with food, refreshments and great conversation groups rocked outside Coral Lanes to the sounds of The Band Downs, while others bowled inside. Baskets filled with hair products, hand crafted items and signed Packer footballs lined the tables of a silent auction.
It was all to raise money for Breanna's Smile Foundation, which shares her story and encourages positive choices in the community.
During the celebration Breanna's father took time to remember his daughter.
"I never had any issues or problems with Bre. If she ever had any type of problems she would always come to her mom and dad to talk about it," Craig Schneller said.
Craig added the annual event helps fill a void and aids in the healing process.
"The biggest thing that's helped me is get involved with the FCCLA and keep my mind occupied with the things that we're trying to accomplish," he said.
