The man accused of murdering a D.C. Everest high school student will get a certified interpreter during his trial.

Raul Ponce-Rocha, 23, made a appearance in Marathon County court Thursday.

He's charged with first degree intentional homicide in the death of Breanna Schneller, 18.

Schneller was found dead in the apartment she shared with her fiance and brother in May of last year.

Wausau police say they have DNA evidence linking Ponce-Rocha to the crime.

After asking Ponce-Rocha a series of questions Thursday, Judge Patrick Brady ruled that he's not proficient enough in English to fully understand the court process.

Judge Brady says the defendant, "has some inability to adequately understand English in courtroom proceedings."

At least three certified interpreters will be used during the trial, which is scheduled for June 6th through June 18th.

His next court appearance is set for April 9th, where attorneys will discuss whether or not to allow a change of venue.

Defense attorney Mike Moran has made a motion that if the trial remains in Marathon County, that an outside jury be brought in.
