Your Town Stratford: Nationally Ranked FFA Chapter Cultivates a Better Future

It's a tradition that continues to live on in Your Town Stratford. The FFA chapter there is nationally ranked. More than 100 students are a part of the organization.

Not only do they focus on the agricultural industry and the issues affecting it, they're also busy building leadership skills and doing service projects to beautiful their community. The Stratford FFA was founded in 1936 and is known for it's diverse service projects including adopt-a-highway, June Dairy Breakfast, and raking leaves for the elderly.

When the first FFA chapter was started back in 1928, it was based on agricultural education. Now it has grown into an organization that fosters a bright future for millions of students. The Ag. Teacher at Stratford High School, Becky Wirkus, says FFA is not all about agriculture. Only 10 percent of her members are actually from a working family farm.

If you'd like to see some of the projects the Stratford FFA has been working on, be sure to check them out at the Wisconsin Farm Technology Days Youth Tent. It will be held in Marshfield - July 12th through the 14th.
