Wildlife biologists have verified the image captured by a camera in Juneau County is that of a cougar.
The photo was taken just before 9:30 p.m. Sunday about two miles north of Mauston.
Two biologists visited the site Friday to investigate.
“It’s obviously a cougar,” said biologist Adrian Wydeven. “It’s good sized, most likely a young adult.”
This is the seventh time a trail camera has captured a cougar in Wisconsin. The DNR believes three of the photos were of the same cougar.
