Families in Weston are getting a little help this weekend thanks to "Blessing in a Backpack."
The organization teamed up with Weston Elementary school and gave 56 backpacks to students in need.
The backpacks are filled with easy-to-prepare foods such as cereal, soups, pasta, and rice which organizers hope will get students though the weekend.
Parents had to fill out an application to enroll their kids.
Weston Elementary is the first school is the DC Everest School District to participate in the program.
The school says between 60 and 70 percent of students are living at low socioeconomic levels, which is one of the highest percentages in the district.
