While many strawberry patches in Central Wisconsin have struggled during the 2011 season, Arnold's Strawberries in Rudolph has thrived.

"This year, we've had some of the best strawberries I've ever seen," said Tom Arnold, proprietor of the Rudolph-area patch.

Arnold said his patch will close on Sunday, July 10.

"We have to shut down soon to begin preparing for next year," Arnold said. "But until then, we've still got plenty of delicious berries to pick."

Arnold's Strawberries opened on June 18, about one week later than normal. Other patches in the area opened later and closed sooner -- if they opened at all.

"I feel for the farmers who have had trouble this season," Arnold said. "My patch has been blessed with great berries, and I am grateful."
