Whether you love the carnival rides or like to chow down on the deep fried goodies - it's just exciting to know what fair season has returned. And kicking off the festivities in our area is the Lincoln Co. Fair in Merrill (July 20th-24th).
This is a chance for you to check out all the hard work the 4-Hers and FFA members have put in over the last year. Not only do they have amazing projects on display, but these kids are learning valuable life lessons - including teamwork, leadership, and how to meet a deadline. And while these kids are one of the many great features of the fair, it wouldn't be possible without all the volunteers. These people serve as 4-H leaders, project helpers, and so much more. They help guide the kids and make sure the Jr. Fair runs without a hitch.
Another great feature of the fair is the carnival. This year, the Lincoln Co. Fair is welcoming a new company - Tip Top Rides and Attractions. On Thursday all ride tickets cost just $1, and many of the rides require just one ticket.
And don't forget the entertainment! This year, the fair board had to make the tough decision to tear down the grandstands after some weather moved through destroying it. There will be a new one in place for next year, but until then there are temporary bleachers in its place to make sure the fun continues this year. Some of the featured entertainment includes comedian Scott Long & David Harris and Demo Derbies. In the music tent Tuscan Road, Vic Ferrari, Rabid Aardvarks, Geoff Landon & Wolfpack, Carl Jackson, and The BBQ Boys.
The fair runs through Sunday, July 24th.
