Gardeners go green at the Hsu Greenhouse & Landscape Supply, dropping off plastic pots for recycling.
In the coming days, the containers will be shredded, packaged and shipped to Canada.
That is where they will be molded into plastic pots again.
Workers say they are glad to be making a difference for the environment.
"We're trying to help keep the landfill a little emptier and help recycyle some of these products that can be recycled and re-used." Hsu's Production Manager Dennis Brusky said.
Hsu's is one of two places currently recycling the containers.
They said they saw a need for a program like theirs since it takes containers years to decompose in landfills.
This was the first year of the program and they hope to make it an annual event.
