MADISON, Wis. (AP) -- Wisconsin agriculture officials say the tree-killing emerald ash borer has spread to Racine County.
Officials say a total of eight beetles were discovered Tuesday on three separate survey traps in northeastern Racine County. The beetles were confirmed as emerald ash borer beetles on Thursday.
The beetles were discovered during routine trap inspection.
The addition of Racine County brings the number of Wisconsin counties where emerald ash borers have been discovered, to eight. The other counties are Brown, Crawford, Kenosha, Milwaukee, Ozaukee, Vernon and Washington.
