A "Sweet" taste of Honey

We may live in the Dairy State, but this weekend your children will have the chance to learn about another critter - the Honey Bee.

On Saturday, at Hotel Mead in Wisconsin Rapids, the Wisconsin Honey Producers Association is sponsoring "Kids and Bees Expo."

It's from 2 pm to 4 pm and free to the public.

Experienced bee keepers will be on hand to explain and answer questions about the bee keeping industry and the magical world of the hard working honey bee. Kids will also be able to roll their own beeswax candle, taste different types of honey, and see an active hive.

On Friday on Sunrise 7, The American Honey Queen, Teresa Bryson, joined us in our studios and shared some great honey recipes. You can find them listed below:

Moroccan Spiced Hummus

Makes 2-1/2 cups
• 2 cans (15 1/2 oz.) garbanzo beans, drained and rinsed
• 1/3 cup honey
• 1/4 cup lemon juice
• 1 teaspoon ground cumin
• 1 teaspoon minced garlic
• 1/2 teaspoon salt
• 2 to 3 Tablespoons fresh cilantro or parsley, chopped
• Cayenne pepper
• Toasted Pita Triangles or crackers
Combine all ingredients except cilantro and Pita Triangles in a food processor or blender. Process until smooth. Remove mixture to a serving bowl. Stir in chopped cilantro or parsley. Serve with Pita Triangles or crackers. To Make Pita Triangles: Separate and cut rounds of pita bread to form 2 circles each. Cut each circle into 6 or 8 triangles. Place on a baking sheet. Bake at 400°F about 5 minutes until crisp and lightly browned at edges.

Honey and Oat Exfoliant

Makes 1 treatments
• 1/2 cup honey
• 1/2 cup oatmeal
1. Mix and smooth over face
2. Massage and leave on for 10 minutes.
3. Rinse off with warm water
