4H kids spend the entire year working on getting their farm animals ready for the fair.
Judging for sheep, beef and dairy cattle is Thursday, with swine judging on Friday at the Wisconsin Valley Fair.
Going in front of a judge gives 4H members an opportunity to increase their knowledge of the animals, and develop communication skills.
Many members, like Abby Thunder, 16, have been participating in the fair for years.
"I've done very well some years and others it's just not my year. Either they're not cooperating or the judge isn't seeing eye to eye," she said.
But she says she loves being in 4H and getting the opportunity to show at the fair, and says everyone involved is great.
10-year-old Matthew Walter agrees.
"It's just cool to.. show animals," he said.
The market animal sale is on Saturday, the fair runs through Sunday.
