MADISON, Wis. (AP) -- Unemployment rates in state metropolitan areas improved last month.

The Department of Workforce Development says unemployment decreased in 10 of the state's 12 metropolitan areas from September to October.

The Janesville area had the highest rate at 10.9 percent. The Madison area had the lowest at 5.5 percent. DWD spokesman Dick Jones didn't immediately return a call seeking a list of the other areas' rates.

Unemployment rates rose in 35 counties, dropped in 27 counties and remained the same in 10 last month. Menominee County had the highest unemployment rate at 13.1 percent, followed by Rock County at 10.9 percent. Those counties led the state in September, too.

I went from $14.00/hr 50 hours a week to $8.00/hr 25 hours a week. It took me a year to find the part time job that I have.I also had to change careers. The unempoyment stats reported do not impress me at all.

One of the reasons the u.c. claims have lowered, is because alot of people who are unemployed have been unemployed so long, that they don't qualify anymore!! and all I can say is God Bless to Them!! Our prez says he would create jobs with the stimulas money , so hang in there!! Yeah , like that is going to happen!!!I'm being totally factious, if you can't already tell!
