Kevin Schulz's MMA Journey

"Once the cage door is locked, there's no turning back. You can't be scared, otherwise you'll get beat."

20 year old Kevin Schulz began coming to Rising Son three years ago.
After a year and a half of intense training, he took to the cage, where he has won three out of his four amateur fights.

"Every fight you get better. you watch film and pick out your mistakes and what you did wrong and get better at everything." says Schulz.

Training at rising son is about more than just fighting. It's about personal and spiritual growth, as well as the brotherhood shared among the fighters.

"We're like a family here at Rising Son." says Schulz.

"My goal is to help people better their lives. If I can change lives in a positive way, that's the number one goal. Fighting is secondary." adds Lah Thao, Rising Son's coach.

Schultz says his MMA training has forever changed the way he looks at life and those around him.

"MMA has changed me for the better. It's made me more disciplined, a better person, i'm more respectful to people."

Schultz says he someday hopes to turn pro; and that the UFC is the ultimate dream. Even if he doesn't make it, he's learned lessons that will last a lifetime.

"Even if you don't become the biggest MMA star, you can turn around and coach and pass your knowledge along to a new generation of fighters."

Win or lose, no turning back, in the cage, or in life.
