BBB Looking for Outstanding H.S. Seniors for Scholarship Program

(Press Release) – The deadline is approaching to apply for the Better Business Bureau of Wisconsin Foundation’s Student of Integrity scholarships.

This is the third year that the BBB of Wisconsin Foundation has offered financial scholarships to Wisconsin high school students who have demonstrated character, leadership and ethical values; providing the opportunity to continue their education beyond high school at an accredited college or training program.

In addition, these scholarship are intended to create long-term ties with future Wisconsin business leaders who will promote ethics in the marketplace as they pursue their careers. Scholarship winners are spotlighted at the BBB's annual Torch Award for Business Ethics & Integrity banquet in October.

In 2012, the Better Business Bureau of Wisconsin will award two types of scholarships:

The Student of Integrity

Two $2,500 scholarships will be awarded to Wisconsin high school students who have demonstrated character, leadership and ethical values; providing the opportunity to continue their education beyond high school at an accredited college beginning in the fall of 2012. These scholarships are sponsored by the BBB of Wisconsin Foundation and State Collection Service in Madison. Applications must be received by March 1, 2012.

The Student of Integrity - Industry and Trades

A $2,500 scholarship will be awarded to a Wisconsin student, entering an industrial or technical trade, who has demonstrated ethics and integrity. The scholarship will be awarded for post-high school education at any U.S. based accredited higher education institution or training program beginning in the fall 2012. This scholarship is sponsored by the BBB of Wisconsin Foundation and Briggs & Stratton. Applications must be received by April 2, 2012.

To qualify, applicants must be a high school senior, a U.S. citizen and legal resident of Wisconsin. Requirements include providing a certified copy of his/her transcript with grade point average, providing a description of post-secondary education plans, writing a 500-word essay, and supplying at least two written recommendations.
