A judge has ordered the county to pay for an attorney for one of the parents accused of reckless homicide in their 11-year-old daughter's death from diabetes.

Dale Neumann will have a county-paid attorney.

Howard's ruling came after Dale took the stand at an indigency hearing and was questioned extensively about his personal and business finances.

His wife, Leilani Neumann, will have a private attorney that she will pay for with the couple's assets. The defense withdrew its request that she have a public defender.

The Neumanns, of Weston, were charged last week with second-degree reckless homicide in the death of their 11-year-old daughter, Madeline.

The girl died of an untreaed diabetic condition after her parents chose to pray over her instead of seeking medical attention.

The Neumanns are free on $250,000 bond, but because they do not have sufficient liquid assets, $50,000 of the total is in the form of a property signature bond on one of their two homes.

The Associated Press contributed to this report.

If they thought prayer could cure their daughter, then maybe they should skip getting attorneys all together and pray for themselves - see if they have better results than their daughter did.

Can't afford an attorney......maybe sell one of the homes, and the business too since they'll be in jail and won't be working there anymore. Something is wrong with the justice system!

There's an indigency hearing?! They own two homes and own Monkey Mo's..what?!?! There are peoplep in this area who have to cram 3 children in one bedroom because they can't afford a larger house and have to pay for their own attorney, if their freedoms is that important to them, they can find a away to pay for their disaterous choice.
