Wisconsin Power Grid At Full Capacity With Hot Weather

By: Associated Press

UNDATED (AP) -- Wisconsin's three nuclear reactors are cranked to capacity this week as hot, humid weather blankets the region.

The state has been able to meet demands for electricity without difficulty.

Wisconsin is importing about 15 percent of its power needs.

American Transmission Company spokeswoman Annemarie Newman says that's a typical amount. A-T-C owns and operates the major power lines in eastern Wisconsin and Michigan's U.P.

The Point Beach nuclear power plant at Two Rivers was just returned to full power Sunday. An overheated pump caused officials to shut down one of the two units for more than a week.
