When many people in the Wausau area think of shopping destinations, they may think of the Wausau Center Mall or stores on Rib Mountain Drive. Now, Weston wants to also be known as a place for great shopping and excellent dining.
The city of 15,000 has seen a population boom over the past two decades, and with more residents comes more economic opportunities. Something that real estate developers are taking notice of.
"Weston definitely is looking for new opportunities. They are looking for things to happen here and grow. This is an area, a residential area that is growing and with that you are going to need the retailers." says developer Victor Anderson.
Anderson along with business partner Rolly Lokre have developed the Weston Center shopping plaza. Within the next few months both a Dunkin Donuts and Jimmy John's will open in the complex.
Other business owners in the shopping center welcome the arrival of these new businesses. They hope they will continue to grow the economy.
