The victim of an apparent accidental shooting in Wood County has been listed in critical condition, according to the Wood County Sheriff's Department.
Joseph G. Sammartino, 25, was airlifted to St. Joseph's Hospital in Marshfield Saturday afternoon after being shot at the Wood County Rifle Range.
The sheriff's department says his father, Stephen J. Sammartino, 53, was attempting to clear a firearm, when it accidentally discharged striking his son.
The range is located on Marsh Road and Ridge Road outside of Wisconsin Rapids to the west.
The incident is being called an accident, although an investigation is pending.
