Authorities say a body found in a Jefferson County cornfield is that of a Milwaukee woman.

TOWN OF IXONIA, Wis. (AP) -- Authorities say a body found in a Jefferson County cornfield is that of a Milwaukee woman.

The sheriff's office says the body has been identified as that of 23-year-old Alejandra Guzman-Flores. She was last seen by her family on Oct. 5, 2013.

A driver spotted her body March 29 a short distance off the road in the Town of Ixonia.

No other details were released.

Investigators in Jefferson County are still working to determine the identity of body found in cornfield late last month. The Sheriff's Department says the body is woman. It was discovered near North Road south of County Trunk Highway CW by a passerby in the Town of Ixonia on March 29.

According to WITI-TV, an official cause of death has not yet been determined.

Investigators say the body was badly decomposed and had most likely been there through the winter.

TOWN OF INOXIA, Wis. (AP) -- Authorities are trying to identify a body that a passing motorist found in a Jefferson County cornfield.

The driver reported noticing something out of the ordinary around midday Saturday a short distance off the road in the Town of Ixonia. The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office says it turned out to be a woman's body. The department did not release any other description of the body.

The county coroner requested an autopsy, and the sheriff's department asked other law enforcement for any leads or information on missing people that might help identify the body.

Milwaukee police spokesman Lt. Mark Stanmeyer says his department is awaiting the autopsy results and identification of the body to see if the death is connected with any of its investigations.
