Wisconsin Man Arrested for Playing Too Much Cowbell

OSHKOSH, Wis. (AP) -- Demonstrators calling for the recall of Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker learned there really is such a thing as too much cowbell.

Oshkosh police arrested a 26-year-old Appleton man on Thursday after he kept playing a cowbell and shaking it in an officer's face when he and other protesters were told to be quiet.

The Oshkosh Northwestern reports that when the officer tried to take the cowbell, the man pushed the officer. A 25-year-old Appleton woman then hit the officer in the back with her picket sign while the man was being handcuffed.

Both were taken to the Winnebago County Jail. Police will recommend that the man be charged with disorderly conduct and resisting arrest and the woman be charged with disorderly conduct and battery to an officer.

Intentionally disobeying, pushing and hitting a police officer goes far beyond freedom of speech. Breaking the law is still breaking the law. It appears that those people who are supporting the recall effort against Gov. Walker fit the common anti-government stereotype; rude, arrogant and belligerent. With no idea of what is ethically right or wrong, with no regard for the laws of this country, with no regard as to what the cost of this recall will be and how it will fiscally impact every county, city, village and township in this state whose budgets are already stretched to the limit. And if programs need to be cut because of these added unnecessary unappropriated expenditures, these people will be the first ones to squeal and will most certainly blame Gov. Walker. They plainly just don't care, as long as they can force their will upon all the people of this state and make every taxpayer pay for their childish temper tantrum.

was not there but why did they have to be quiet? what makes officers think they can just order law abiding citizens around? If they were demonstrating within their constitutional rights?

and if there wasn't a protest going on, the same two people in the same place with the same cowbell and picket sign would have gone unnoticed. why is it that certain actions only get you put in jail when people have assembled in a group?

These 2 role models are in jail where they belong. One wonders what kind of "protests" we'll see after Walker prevails in the Recall election.
