Wisconsin Boosts Athleticism at WR, DB, Adds QB

MADISON, Wis. (AP) -- Coach Gary Andersen hopes he's added speed and athleticism at receiver and defensive back in his first recruiting class after a full year on the job at Wisconsin.
The secondary is one area where playing time might be immediately available come spring ball with two starting spots open. The Badgers brought in four recruits there.
The secondary was exposed a bit in Wisconsin's season-ending upset loss to Penn State.
The Badgers lost one of the Big Ten's top receivers in Jared Abbrederis and struggled to get production from others at the position. Consensus four-star prospect Dareian Watkins from Ohio is one of five receiver signees.
Four-star prospect D.J. Gillins out of Florida is described as a dual-threat quarterback. He's already enrolled at Wisconsin.
