WASHINGTON (AP) -- The FAA says it will delay closure of 149 air traffic control towers at small airports until June. That includes CWA in Mosinee.

The Federal Aviation Administration has set May 5 as the date funding for Central Wisconsin Airport's control tower to stop.
The airport will not close, it just means their control will be run by another airport, most likely Minneapolis.

UPDATE: 3/22 at 2:20 p.m.
Eight Wisconsin Airports, including CWA in Mosinee will lose their control towers beginning or after April 7.
The affected airports include, Chippewa Valley Regional, Kenosha Regional, Kenosha Regional, Southern Wis. Regional in Janesville, La Crosse Municipal, Wittman Regional in Oshkosh, and Lawrence J Timmerman in Milwaukee.
CWA's control tower will be operated by Minneapolis.
CWA is not closing.

UPDATE: 3/20 at 4:40 p.m.
The Central Wisconsin Airport wants to put travelers at ease, and says while changes to its air traffic control may happen, the airport will not being closing.
When the sequester went into effect, the FAA made a proposal to cut the contract tower program causing the air traffic control tower at CWA to shut down. The change would mean air traffic will continue as normal and the air traffic will be monitored by Minneapolis.
The decision on the fate of CWA's control tower is set to be released on Friday.

Due to federal budget cuts, airport control towers could go dark overnight in Milwaukee or close altogether at eight regional Wisconsin airports.
The Federal Aviation Administration says overnight air-traffic control shifts could be eliminated at Milwaukee's General Mitchell International Airport. The control towers could close outright at smaller airports in Eau Claire, Janesville, Kenosha, La Crosse, Milwaukee, Mosinee, Oshkosh and Waukesha.
Airport officials have until Wednesday to make their cases to be kept open. The FAA will issue a final closure list on March 18. The closures would begin about April 7, unless negotiations in Washington head off the cuts.
If the towers are unstaffed, pilots would have to coordinate takeoffs and landings themselves via radio and visual contact, as they do now at night when towers aren't open.
