Study: Wisconsin 7th Most Likely Place to Hit a Deer While Driving

Click here to view the probability map.

For the second year in a row, Wisconsin holds the spot at the 7th most likely place to strike a deer while driving. State Farm Insurance calculates the odds at 1 in 78.7.

For the sixth year in a row, West Virginia tops the list, with odds that there is a 1 in 40 chance a driver will hit a deer with their car. It shouldn't come as a surprise that Hawaii is the least likely place to hit a deer with odds of 1 in 6,801.

State Farm's data shows that November is the month during which deer-vehicle encounters are most likely. More than 18 percent of all such mishaps take place during the 30 days of November. Deer-vehicle collisions are three times more likely to occur on a day in November than they are on any day between February 1st and August 31st. October is the second most likely month for a crash involving a deer and a vehicle. December is third.
