The Wisconsin Rapids' summer collegiate baseball team, the Rafters will throw their first pitch on Tuesday and along with a fresh start, they'll also have a brand new interactive accessible deck.
The Northwoods League Foundation partnered with the Rafters to add the new area, which will feature iPads allowing fans to order food and even provide a wait staff to bring those ordered items to customers. They can also watch or listen to the live broadcasts on the pads through NorthwoodsLeague.TV.
"We are the first recipient of such an honor to get something like this put into the ballpark in a venue like this," Rafters' General Manager, John Fanta said. "It's going to be one of the most unique venues in all of not only summer collegiate, but minor league sports and even major leagues, I don't think they're able to do some of the stuff we're going to be doing with the iPads."
He said there may even be some in-game coach interaction as well as shots from the bullpen with our iPads through Google Plus. A new A.D.A. approved ramp will also be put inplace in this more than 60-years-old stadium. The area should be finished by Friday.
