MADISON, Wis. (AP) -- Wisconsin lawmakers are considering a bill that clarifies if residents can brew and serve beer or wine outside their home.
The state Senate is scheduled to take up the bill Tuesday. It specifies home brewers can make concoctions outside their home, though they're still prohibited from selling what they make.
Current state law says homebrewed beer or wine cannot be taken outside of the home, making homemade brewing tasting events illegal. It caused an outcry from homebrew enthusiasts around the state, who say the law is archaic and makes their beloved hobby illegal. Several opposing groups say the bill ignores state regulations on alcohol distribution.
