FOND DU LAC, Wis. (AP) -- Fond du Lac deputies investigating a 1990 homicide have gathered evidence that may incriminate a 60-year-old trucker from Kenosha.
The 1990 death of Berit Beck confounded authorities for decades. But now the Fond du Lac County sheriff's office says a new analysis suggests the trucker was in Beck's van.
Beck was an 18-year-old Sturtevant woman. She was found slain in a Waupun ditch, and evidence recovered from her van led to dead ends, but deputies have now identified a primary suspect, and say they have tangible evidence that links him to the inside of the van. Sheriff Mick Fink declined to elaborate.
A search warrant says investigators wanted photos of the suspect's hands, one of which is deformed. The photos are being analyzed against other evidence.
