Two outdoor winter traditions return to the northwoods this week.
In Tomahawk, there's still time to sign up for the Somo Fish and Game Ice Fishing Jamboree. Last year, nearly 800 turned out for the ice fishing contest.
Registration begins at 8 a.m on Saturday, Feb. 23. with fishing from 9 am – 3 pm. The registration station is at the boat landing located between Tomahawk Lodge and Somo View Resort off Highway CC. Cost is 50 cents for kids 16 and younger, and $2 for 17 and older.
Prizes are awarded for first through third place in five categories: northern pike, walleye, bluegill, perch and crappie.

Saturday is also the Frozen Tozen Winter Fest in Boulder Junction. It's the fifth year for the event. Along with an ice fishing tournament, there's ice golf, turkey bowling, tug of war, and ice skating all held on Boulder Lake.
Registration for the fishing tournament begins at 10 am at the Boulder Lake landing, with walk-in registrations welcome. The tournament runs from 11 am to 5 pm. This year, there is also a team division. Two to six people registration may also sign up as a team for no extra charge. Awards will be presented to top anglers in the adult and junior division as well as an overall team awards.
The ice golf and turkey bowling will take place between 11 am-4pm. Fee to participate is non-perishable donation to the Community Food Pantry.
