Win $1000 with United Way of Inner Wisconsin

As part of an ongoing segement on Sunrise 7, we're continuing to feature new and exciting things going on at United Ways around the area. This morning, Tari Johns from the United Way of Inner Wisconsin stopped by to tell us what they have going on.

Learning for Life - Recently United Way of Inner Wisconsin's Women's Leadership Council (WLC) started Learning for Life, a Reading Mentor program in south Wood County. Reading mentors spend time with students one on one or in small groups on a weekly basis. Another tool that the WLC has helped to fund is a Virtual Reading Coach Program that benchmarks each student and determines where their greatest needs are. The program then works with the student to improve and enhance their reading skills. Their goal is to have all children reading proficiently at or above their current grade level.

Campaign Sweepstakes - They have implemented a sweepstakes this year to help bring 'New Dollars' to the campaign. 5 individuals will each win a $1,000 cash prize sponsored by local businesses. To qualify a donor must give $26 new dollars to the campaign. The deadline is Friday November 16th.
