Finding a way to get to work or school can be difficult when you don't have a vehicle or bicycle to get you there. That's why employees from Greenheck Fan Corporation's fan and ventilation unit in Schofield are gearing up to hand off dozens of bikes to the Neighbors' Place on Friday.
The program is called "Wheels Again" and it provides bikes to adults in the Wausau area who don't have any other means of transportation. Employees spent the last couple of days cleaning, repairing, and examining them for safety purposes.
"Instead of walking from work from one side of town to the other during winter or any season, this allows them to get there even faster," says Rick Johnson, an organizer for the project. "It takes a little less time for them and makes their lives a little more convenient."
Johnson says it was his love of cycling that fostered the idea. Employees also built bike racks to donate as well.
