A Weston teenager has been name one of Wisconsin's top youth for her efforts to end hunger.
Peyton Medick, 14, who founded "Peyton's Promise" at the age of 8, has worked to create a large food distribution network that has provided more than 80 tons of food and $30,000 in monetary donations for food pantries in central Wisconsin and across the country.
Now, Prudential Financial has named Peyton one their top youth volunteers of 2013. She'll share the title with a Waukesha teen who has engaged more than 100 fellow students in a variety of community service projects.
Last July, Peyton was one of 22 American who carried the Olympic Torch Aylesbury, England prior to the summer Olympic Games.
The Prudential Spirit of Community Awards, sponsored by Prudential Financial in partnership with the National Association of Secondary School Principals (NASSP), is the United States' largest youth recognition program based solely on volunteer service.
