Construction season is underway in the Wausau area and that can mean headaches for drivers who aren't prepared. Here's what you should know about one major project.
Starting early Wednesday morning, Wisconsin 52 will be reduced to one lane in each direction, near 17th and 18th Avenues.
17th Avenue will also be reduced to one lane in each direction at that intersection.
Project Manager Mark Steidl says, drivers should be prepared for delays in that area.
"The key is to plan ahead and allow yourself some extra time when travelling through the workzone and remain extra alert", said Steidl.
The project began last week and crews are replacing the concrete on Wisconsin 52, between 17th and 18th Avenue.
The project will progess in 4 separate stages and drivers will have to pay close attention to the signs as the workzone changes.
"Throughout the course of the project, drivers need to be aware of the signing that's in place. The project is being built in stages, so as we progress through the project, the signing will change", added Steidl.
Steidl says, the construction is well needed in this area, because the road had deteriorated over the years. The construction is slated to last into September.
