The Wausau woman accused of torturing to death her ex-boyfriend's dog will remain behind bars. In court Wednesday, Sean Janas asked a Marathon Co. judge to reduce her $2,500 cash bond to a signature bond. Judge Greg Grau refused to grant the request.

"I don't see any change in circumstances that would justify an amendment to the original bond, accordingly. The motion is denied, the bond continues," Judge Grau said.

Janas, 20, faces one misdemeanor and two felony charges. She's accused of pouring bleach down the throat of the German Shepherd-Labrodor mix, Mary, as well as stabbing her multiple times with a knife and keeping a diary about how she got pleasure doing it.

This case has sparked outrage across the state and even the country. Several animal welfare advocates from the area, as well as Green Bay and Milwaukee, showed up at Wednesday's hearing to protest Jana's alleged actions. They carried flame-less candles to signify Mary's life being snuffed out too soon.

Janas' trial is scheduled to begin in May. If convicted, she could spend up to five years in jail and be forced to pay a $30,000 fine.
