Now that it is getting colder outside, the Warming Center in Wausau is opening the doors for those who do not have a place to sleep. And while the center has a new location, organizers still need your help to keep it open.
The new location is near Wausau's west side and it offers a warm atmosphere, sleeping quarters, and now a chance to shower as well. And as the weather gets colder, the need for volunteers will only go up.
"Our main needs right now are volunteer assistance," said development organizer, Deacon Brian Hilts, "we don't require any experience, all you need to do is give us a call."
Besides volunteers, the Warming Center also needs supplies like canned food, paper towel and toilet paper. Those supplies can be dropped off at the office.
The Warming Center is located at 540 S. 3rd Avenue. It is open of guests from 7-8:30 every night until April 30th.
If you would like to volunteer you can call the center at 715-849-3311. They will be holding new volunteer training sessions November 7th and 5pm and November 14th and 5pm. A refresher training program will be offered Nov. 12 at 4:30 p.m.
