The Wausau Convention and Visitors Bureau says it will be taking over management of the Patriot Center in the Cedar Creek Mall.
The bureau says it's all in an effort to make sure the building remains a part of the community and events scheduled there go on as planned.
When an interim management group first took over the mall late last year, it knew it wouldn't be able to handle operating the entire facility.
That's why it chose to enlist the help of the convention and visitors bureau to keep things running smoothly.
Richard Barrett of the Bureau says, "its in our interest, its a facility that brings people into the community. That is our number one priority. We bring them into the shop, they eat, they stay in our hotels, that sort of thing. That is our number one priority, losing this facility would be a disaster right now, so it our obligation to make sure we all succeed."
The management of the facility will only be temporary, until a new owner is found.
In the meantime - the convention and visitor's bureau wants to make it clear things will stay just the way they are with scheduled events going on as planned.
The bureau is not taking over any part of the mall management, that's being left to a separate management group.
At this point, it's unknown just how long the it will operate the patriot center.
