A 27-year-old Weston man remains in the Marathon County jail on a probation hold after he's accused of hitting a 17-year-old girl with his vehicle and driving away. Jeremy Cheyka was charged Thursday with hit-and-run involving injury.
The alleged victim said she was arguing with Cheyka and attempted to get in front of his vehicle in order to make him stop, but he started to drive an hit her.
Lieutenant Juedes from the Wausau Police Department says dispatch received a call around 6:20 a.m. Monday reporting an injured woman on N. 5th Street between Stark and Steuben. Investigators said the incident happened near a home on Dekalb Street when she was struck and rolled across the vehicle's hood landing on concrete. The woman walked about a blocked before a passerby noticed her and called 911. The woman was transported to a Wausau hospital. She reported injuries to her knees and the back of her head.
Police say the suspect was arrested Tuesday evening during a traffic stop at N. 3rd Street and Langsdorf Street in Wausau.
