A Wausau family is trying to understand why someone shot their six-month-old puppy with a pellet gun, injuring it so severley it had to be euthanized. The shooting happened during the day on the city's northeast side, Tuesday.

The dog's owner, Stacy Bell says the hardest part about losing their puppy, Jack, is having to explain to her children why the dog is no longer around. She says that Jack truly was a part of the family and that the loss has been devastating.

" By the sounds of what the officers have been saying I don't think it was some random shooting. They think that the dog was targeted. Maybe becvause of the barking. Maybe somebody was frustrated with him. They are looking at a lot of the neighbors”, Explained Bell of the ongoing investigation.

If you know anything about the case, please give the Wausau Police Department a call at (715) 261-7798.
