Seventh grade students from Horace Mann and John Muir Middle Schools will spend a portion of the day Wednesday and Thursday attending class in a college setting and participating in a variety of workshops during the third annual “Think College Day”.

On Thursday, State Superintendent Tony Evers will tell students the importance of staying on track with good attendance and academic work so they graduate from high school ready for college and careers. Evers also will encourage the students to consider some type of post-secondary study whether it is at UW Marathon County, a technical college, or a four-year college or university.

About half of the Wausau School District’s middle school students are from low-income families. For many, Think College Day will be their first college experience. The goal of the event is to inform Wausau’s seventh-grade students that they all have the chance to continue their education beyond high school.

Think College Day is sponsored by the University of Wisconsin Marathon County Office Continuing Education, Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction – Wausau Office, and Wausau School District with generous support from the B.A. & Esther Greenheck Foundation.
