The Wausau Area 4th of July Celebration will have 2 sets of fireworks this year - at dusk on Thursday and Friday.
But there's no need to wait for nightfall to head out to Marathon Park and check things out.. There's plenty to do and see to keep the whole family busy.
If you're a thrill seeker, there are plenty of amusement rides to test your courage. Or maybe you have an appetite that needs fed. If so, there are plenty of food options.
The event is put on yearly by the Wausau Area Jaycees. It's a non-profit organization that enjoys giving back to the community. Once all the expenses for the event are paid, the profits go toward scholarships to local schools or to help local organizations like the Women's Community or Humane Society.
If you're operating on a tight budget - as so many of us are these days - there's plenty for you and the kiddos to enjoy. It's free to get on the grounds and watch the fireworks.
Here's a quick look at some of the entertainment this weekend:
Thursday: The Bad Downs, 7-11 p.m.
Friday: The Archives, 7-11 p.m.
