DC Everest junior Manning Denk and Rapids sophomore Patrick Spray will meet in the semifinals Friday night, Denk with a 6-1 decision, spray winning 7-1.
At 126, Wausau West senior heads to the consolation bracket, losing to Ben Hornickle of Burlington 13-6.
Spash sophomore Fritz Schierl continues to roll along, winning his quarterfinal match 11-1, improving to 47-2 on the season.
DC everest junior Joe Ziolkowski at 145, his match was tied at 2 after the first period, 4-4 after the 2nd, but secured 3 points in the third for a 7-4 victory.
At 160, Wausau West Travis Hettinga scored a 13-0 major decision to advance to the semi's, while Merrill's Mason Reinhart got a 2nd period pin fall punching his ticket to the semifinals at 160 as well.
Two local wrestlers advance to the 170 pound semifinals, Merrill's David Pophal by way of a 5-4 decision, while Spash's Billy Duffert needed two overtimes to secure a 2-1 win.
Merrill's Ben Hintze beat Cody Abel of rapids 5-1 at 182 pounds, putting him just two wins from a state championship...
Rhinelander's Connor Johnson dropped a 3-1 decision at 195 pounds.
And at 220, defending state champ Tyler Schmidt of Merrill was taken the distance by Beau Thompson of Rapids, but the future badger moves on with a 5-0 win.
In all, 10 local athletes two wins away from an individual wrestling state championship.
