D1, D2 & D3 State Wrestling Semifinals


In division 1, 113 pounds, D.C. Everest's Manning Denk taking on Patrick Spray of Rapids for the third time this year, after splitting the first two, it's spray who takes the rubber match.

In division 2, 126, Abby Colby's Sage Soppa continues his cinderella run, in his first state tourney, he's headed to the championship with a 6-4 win.

Also at 126, in division 3, Stratford's Alex Heiden moves on with a 6-4 win.

Division 1 145, D.C. Everest's Joe Ziolkowski advances to his first championship match with a 3-0 shutout victory.

At 145 in division 3, an upset, Edgar's Devin Lemanski loses 4-2, ending his bid for a 2nd straight state title.

Division 2 152, Mosinee's Elliott Sparby goes into overtime against Wild rose/Wautoma's Bryce Bennot, Bennot scores the OT win 3-1.

Bennot's opponent in Saturday's finale will be Wittenberg-Birnamwood's Braxton Potrykus, aiming to become the chargers' first state champ since 1966.

At 160, in division 1, the top 2 wrestlers in the state side by side, top ranked Travis Hettinga from Wausau West wins by Tech Fall, 17-1.

He'll face Merrill junior, and 2nd ranked Mason Reinhart, who won his match 10-5.

His Bluejay teammate Ben Hintze moves on to the 182 pound championshp match with a 12-3 major decision.

195 pounds, division 3, Dondrick Tackes of Stratford, nearly pinned in this match, but the tigers senior able to regain control, and takes this one by major decision 17-4.

And finally, the defending state champ at 220 in division one, Merrill's Tyler Schmidt moves one step closer to a repeat with a 12-3 win.
